Starting a Pokemon card business is…..

Hard.

If I stopped there, you’d probably nod and move on. “We get it. It’s hard. So… why are you doing it?” Trust me, I’ve heard that question more times than I can count. And honestly? I didn’t have a perfect answer at first. But here’s what I’ve come to realize: I’m doing this because there’s a real need—a need for a go-to spot where you can find the sets, decks, and cards you want without breaking the bank. That’s the dream.

And yeah, it scares the hell out of me. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t constantly questioning myself. Did I zig when I should’ve zagged? Am I doing enough every day to make this work? The doubts are loud, but the dream is louder.

It’s wild how something that started as just a fun little hobby—buying Pokémon cards and flipping them raw on eBay—has turned into this bigger vision. It’s about creating something special, something that captures that thrill of ripping open a pack, whether it’s your first or your hundredth. I want this to be simple again. No more staking out the Target restock schedule or creeping around the TCG aisle like a confused teenager.

Been there. I was that guy. “Hey babe, wanna go to Target?” My wife, understandably confused, would humor me—only for me to walk out empty-handed, disappointed again. If I could’ve found the sets I wanted every time, it would’ve been awesome. But let’s be real, it was mostly heartbreak. And who needs that in a hobby?

Now, we’re on our way. A few sales here on MintCardCo.com, a few through our TikTok shop—it’s not huge, but it’s hope. Every order, every social media follow, every bit of support has kept me going when I thought about giving up.
